This was an old terrace in the Inner West suburb of Marrickville, which needed some attention to bring it back to life.

The architect designed a simple split level, open plan layout which included a brick veneer extension to the rear of the property and a complete renovation to the existing part of the house, while paying respect to the original features by renewing and replicating the style that once was, but with a modern refreshed retro vibe.

The renovation included the use of spotted gum T&G hardwood flooring, which gives a real sense of warmth throughout the house. The bathroom again plays into that eclectic retro vibe with the use of green subway wall tiles and black/white checker tessellated floor tiles. Both the vanity and shaving cabinet were custom made on site by the Harris Building team and the use of spotted gum was referenced again to incorporate a feel of class and elegance, while maintaining a distinct connection to the rest of the house.
